Resources for teaching English
My step daughter is Brazillian and speaks no English. My husband and I would really like to start to teach her so that when she comes to visit us in the UK she can speak the language.
When I next go to visit her I would like to bring some books or DVDs to get her started.
Does anybody have any recommendations about how best to approach this? I would also really appreciate any suggestions for specific resources. My step daughter is 6.
I have looked at the "Muzzy" DVDs form the BBC but I'm not keen on them.
Thanks
Alison

Re: Resources for teaching English
Hi Alison,
I think that books and cartoons are a great way to teach kids English. Try to find her favorite cartoons but the DVD so you can put them in English. Many cartoons are originally in English to begin with.
I have recently written an article on how kids learn English and you can read it here Kids learn English by Playing, so how can you get them to play in English?
Also you can play games with her. Like happy families, guess who etc.
Have fun and she will learn a lot.
Best of luck!
