Default Faux Pas

Where can I find some information on the social mores of teaching in China? I am not new to teaching, but have had NO experience with the "native born" oriental mindset. I would hate to start off as a social idiot, if I could remedy the cause simply by avoiding simple "faux pas". HELP!

Understanding high-context culture is the place to start. Here's an easy read to get you started, click here.

Take a look also at this paper, Adjusting Teaching Style and Practice
to Accommodate the Needs of International Students
, and at this teacher's account, http://www.theglimpse.com/article_74...h in China</i>, and from a business perspective Beware of Cross-Cultural Faux Pas in China.

All the best

"SOUP", Thanks for the tips & articles; didn't think of "Joy Luck"! Since I'll be teaching E.E. students in Shandong, will "idioms" be as an important part of the training, or since it's a more technically oriented discipline, less so? (Sorry to ask you to be clairvoyant, but...)
