What are the pros and cons of using flash cards in lessons

it probably depends how you use the flash cards. If you just quiz the students it can be quite boring. Any activity the student can easily do on their own at home, should be kept to a minimum in the class room.

On the other hand flash cards can be used as a tool to play games. I find picture flash cards even better, insofar as it's possible.
From my experience most people remember graphic images better than written words.
