Smile Reading

Hello! I have been an English teacher in China for many years. From my teaching experience ,I found out that when the students take the English exams, for the reading comprehension part,it is very hard for the students to work out the right answer though they know each word in the passage. As an English teacher ,how can I help them ?Are there any efficient ways ?
I'm looing forward to your reply! Thank you!
