Dear sir,
It is so interesting to teach "Parts of the House" with cut-outs, pictures or if you can with power point presentation. you can also act to help them understand which room are you talking about. You can also draw on the board a sketch of a house and divide it into rooms.
I hope it is helpful and good luck

Quique !
it's a good idea to use illustrations to teach them the name of each part of a house

you can also use gestures and mime, when necessary

like, pretending to wash your body to suggest the word "bathroom"

and finally, the paints on the board can help you very much

you can draw a house on the board and devide it to parts of the house

In my experience of teaching basic vocabulary, especially children, pictures are very important. If you are reasonably good at drawing, I would suggest drawing an overview of the house and then labelling the parts/rooms of the house together.

If the kids are young and new to the vocab you could put the words on post-it notes and then work together on the picture.

Hope that heps,

regards, Paul

Teaching English Games is on a distinguished road
Default Re: teaching Parts of house

Hi there,

I use games to teach all my vocab and songs and stories when I have them.

For games check out the free ones on my site below - they can be adapted for any vocab - including the rooms of the house.

On my Teaching English Songs 2 CD I've got three songs with the rooms of the house in them - I will give you a link to a free one - just drop me an email (anyone who reads this and wants the free song).

I can't put the link up here because at the time of writing my CD is still being printed up, so the songs are not all uploaded yet for sale, but I can give the free song to anyone who drops me a line to:

Until then!

Shelley

Hello,

If you don't have materials you could have the students draw pictures of their own home while labeling the rooms and furniture in English. This will make it easier for them to feel a connection to the words. You could have them present the picture of the house and explain the different areas in English. Good luck!
