[Grammar] SOME ONE PLEASE TELL ME IF I AM WRONG ABOUT THIS!!!!

I was hoping that I could get some feedback on this particular discussion! I have recently graduated and started working. I was asked to write a letter to one of my employers clients. The first sentence in this letter is:-

"Dear Sir,

Reference to our discussion today, please find attached our reply which is
self explanatory."

...I said that that grammatical syntax is wrong and it should be:-

"Dear Sir,

In reference to our discussion today, please find our attached reply which is
self explanatory."


My supervisor said he has been writing letters for over 10 years, and called routine and added further that these two sentences are equally correct grammatically. I just want to make clear that I am not looking for the best way to say this. Just the proper grammar for each sentence.

...So is the above true?? If it is then what is the word "attached" in the first sentences???? a noun?! a pronoun?! LoL I am so lost in this!!! ARGHH... PLEASE HELP!

It is correct with 'in', you could also use 'with reference to'. It is not correct as it is.

Your supervisor's use of "find attached our reply" is correct, and so is your version "find our attached reply". I think your supervisor's version is more often used, but not necessarily more correct.
It's the same as "Find enclosed a cheque for $10,000"

Naturally, a preposition is needed to make the beginning of the sentence grammatical. But obviously it is not necessary in doing business.
