The Duchess!" he (the White Rabbit) muttered, "Oh, my dear paws! Oh, my fur and whiskers! She's going to get me executed! Where could I have dropped those things?" Is all the sentences inside the speech bubbles consider as Object? Pls tell.... NO idea at all! Mag |

Hint: Direct quotations that follow (in the same sentence) a verb such as said, uttered, remarked, etc. are direct objects of those transitive verbs. |

| Hi Just some comments: 'The cat sat on the mat.' is a sentence because it has a verb (sat). The subject is cat and the object is mat. A clause is similar to a sentence but it lacks a verb. In your example: "The Duchess! The Duchess!" he (the White Rabbit) muttered, "Oh, my dear paws! Oh, my fur and whiskers! She's going to get me executed! Where could I have dropped those things?" it is a quote, which includes two sentences as well as clauses. Cheers David |
