Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?
I took a spoonful if mustard to dab on the frankfurter.
Dab it on with a fine rag.
There was just а dab of butter on the bread.
dab = apply (usually a liquid) to a surface; daub
You have to give your face а dab with а wet sponge.
At last you have to give yourself а dab of powder.
She dabbed her eyes with а handkerchief.
Then she dabbed her lips with а lipstick.
The artist dabbed а brush against paper.
dab = a gentle blow with the hand or some soft substance; a sudden blow or hit;
He has just а dab of money.
a dab of money = a negligible amount of money
Becker was а dab at tennis.
dab = a person with a high degree of knowledge or skill in a particular field
A knife slipped through the outer part and inside the meat was tender and juicy. They all dipped up juice from their plates and put it on the mashed potatos.
