Hello,
I don't know what word to use:
What happened to your friend?
I haven't seen him for days.
Are there any news ___ him?

I think about is correct because it describes the person's current status/location etc..

Cheers!

First - "news" is singular, so it would be "Is there any news ______ him?

I would agree with "about" but not because you're talking about his location/status necessarily, simply because you want to know if there is any news "concerning" or "regarding" him.

If you were specifically talking about his location, you could use:

Is there any news on his whereabouts?

Thanks!

Ah, damn, the German language ruins my English knowledge :-D

Of course it's "Is there any news."
I like regarding.

So, let's say:
Is there any news regarding him?
(But also about seems ok.)

And no, it's more like:
How is he?
What does he make?
Not about his current location.

whereabouts -> I read this the first time :)

Thanks again,
emsr2d2 ;-)

Cheers!

Or you may simply say; Have you heard from him?

Or you may simply say; Have you heard from him?

You could but that specifically means "Has he personally contacted you?"

"Is there any news about him?" could be news from anyone, not necessarily the missing person.

hi,

I'm not a teacher or a native, but I have heard examples of both 'news OF him' and 'news ABOUT him'.
I think both these are good.

cheers,
heyt ;-)

Thanks!

Do you mean "What is he doing?"?
Not about his current location.

Thanks, guys.

I think I should come with the real context.
On some other forums we talk about a girl, if she is real or not.
Today she uploaded some new photos, probably faked photos.
So I wanted to tell the guys this news.
I was thinking about something like:
Hey guys, there is hot news of our dream girl. :-D
(I think of and about are okay.)

Maybe it's easier for you now.

"What is he doing." -> Okay I guess this is better :)

Cheers!
