Should we use "What are your computer skills like?" instead?

This is fine, with 'make'. With 'be' or 'become' it would be more usual to use 'a'.

2. How are your computer skills?
Should we use "What are your computer skills like?" instead?
'How is/are' is commonly used in this way.

It's very difficult to say without more context - which the dictionary probably did not give.

I would guess (and it is only a guess) that the writer was referring to a game of bridge. The full context might be: "He asked me if I could make a foursome for bridge, and I joined them after dinner. It was clear that he and his friends were good players and I fear I made but a poor partner."

I prefer to use,

What is your level of computer skills?

What is your knowledge of computer (saying computer here could be so broad),
knowledge of Microsoft Applications -Word, Excel, Outlook etc.-
would be better way, I guess!:roll:

Both the examples given are very natural English. I would stick to them in future.

"To make partner" should be treated as an expression. "To make A partner" sounds wrong.

"How are your computer skills?" is very nice English. Neutral in register (ie could be said in a job interview or between friends). To make more informal you could say "What are your computer skills like?"
