Is it correct usage?

Do you mean even? "Equal" means having the same value or identical. "Even" means divisible by two. Do you mean that five is not divisible by two?

Sir, I mean about the verb "is"
Five fingers "is" not equal though it belongs to one hand.
Here We are using "is" instead of "are", I think "are" is correct,and one more,Butter and milk "is" essential. here we are using such type of usages.
I can't understand on what basis it is using.
