A correspondent works for one of the several versions of a newspaper or magazine that are printed. Would there be a word that coveys generic meaning similar to a news agency? A term that can be used for both a newspaper and a magazine?

Journalist?

One might say "he's a journalist for Reuters".

John

One who publishes papers or magazines is a "publisher."

Or do you mean something like a "news organization"?

Or, more specific, the "print media."

Yes. Something like a news organization that publishes a newspaper or magazine.

There is no specific word for that.

An edition? What would be a word for a newspaper or magazine? It doesn't matter it it's a daily or weekly.

except - maybe - something like a "news conglomerate". I'm thinking of Rupert Murdoch, et al.
Thanks for making the question clearer, Dave. My initial response was way off.

It would be great if you refer to post # 6. Any ideas?

Sorry Ostap 77 - I was actually writing post seven whilst post six was being uploaded. I had no way of seeing it.
I am afraid that I do not understand your question. Perhaps someone else can help you.

If I said corespondents from different editions, would it make sence?

No. You'd have to say "newspapers and magazines."

No. You'd have to say "newspapers and magazines."

So I want the grand jury reach it's verdict. To say "edition" won't be understood and would be super wrong to use it for "newspapers and magazines"?

An "edition" is one particular instance of a paper or magazine. Like the Sunday paper here. They print an early edition you can buy on Saturday. Then they print the regular "final" edition on Sunday.

If you have a friend who writes for newspapers and magazines, you have to say that.

If I needed to do a bit of translation and say that there have been many reporters at a press conference, could I say "There have been been many reporters from various news agencies or news papers and magazines"?

There is no specific word for that.

The Axel Springer company is the largest publishing house in Europe. It has more than 230 newspapers and magazines...

If I knew Bulgarian, I would have said a big thank you to you!! You seem to be getting what I've been trying to say! As to my previous, do you think I could use a publishing house in the above mentioned context? Or I could stick to a news agency?

As Dave said, there is no specific word for an organisation that publishes a newspaper or magazine.

pssst, ostap - did you see post #3?

I'm getting a feeling that I'm supposed to get around it and not translate it literally?
ostap, in the vast majority of the threads that you start, a native speaker gives you a sensible response within the first couple of posts. You insist on exploring every nook and cranny of possible ways of saying something different. Usually we end up with establishing that an early response was the best.

You should know by now that literal translation rarely works. Are you really surprised?
