The 1940’s led to the creation of an interest in TEFL. The Army Language School a branch of the American military, what later came to be known as the American Defense Language Institute, dabbled in the analysis of numerous languages throughout the introduction of the second world war. These two establishments paved the way in the progression of teaching English as a foreign language.
