What is it? I found it in some text about retail shops.

What is it? I found it in some text about retail shops.

I'm afraid we need more context than that to tell you. Please tell us more about what the paragraph was about, and copy the whole thing, if possible. At the very least, give us the full sentence it was used in, and if possible, the sentences immediately before and after.

It was a text about a retail shop's documents, here's the whole paragraph: Office supply orders, stock transfer documents, tax free documents, loyal customer applications.

I can only speculate that it's the forms the shop must fill out to show that no taxes were required, or perhaps that customers fill out to show that they represent a non-profit organization and that therefore their purchases are tax-exempt.

Perhaps this store is selling these applications or forms.

A major office supply store in my neighborhood sells all kinds of forms. These include rental forms, assumed name forms, wills, corporation forms, power of attorney forms, etc.

Thanks for your opinion.

No, it sells clothes.

Some countries refund taxes paid on merchandise bought by tourists. This may be talking about those types of forms.

 Sounds likely - especially for a high-end clothes shop. In the UK, for example, there is Value-Added Tax of 17.5% on clothes. A majority of custimers will have to pay VAT, so printed prices often include VAT. This means that something in a clothes shop marked at £117.50 will cost only £100.00 to someone who can prove their 'tax-exempt' status.
