Can I say that "I had a lot of money now, if I hadn't spent so much yesterday"?
Thanks!

I would have a lot of money now, if I hadn't spent so much yesterday.

"Had" is past tense. You can't say "had...now."

But I think "would" is also a kind of past tense. The future in past. So we can use "would" or "had".
That is what I think. Do you agree with me.
Thanks@

Hello, trueheart.:-D
Yes, 'would' is the past form of 'will.' I agree with you on this point.
However, 'had' doesn't work in your sentence unfortunately.
I'd advise you to study about English 'Conditionals.'
Please go to : Conditionals - Glossary Definition - UsingEnglish.com
and read the relevant chapter in your grammar book.:-D

Hi,
you must use the conditional (would have) in the first part of your sentence because you are expressing an hypothetical situation, not something which happened in the past.
I hope this helps.
