What is the different between SAT Vs. API test?

Why Private school focus on SAT test score and Public School focus on API test score?

Thank you.

I've never heard of an API test.

Apparently it's a California thing.

Academic Performance Index (API) (CA Dept of Education)

If this is what you are talking about, it's a measure of state law intended to measure the performance of public schools.

The SAT is the standard test used throughout the US by colleges to assess the academic achievement of prospective students.

Most states have some form of school assessment public schools between kindergarten and high school.

In my state, they are rolling out a new test called "The Keystone Exams" (Pennsylvania is called the Keystone State). In New York, where I grew up, we had "Regents Exams." Apparently, California has the API.

These exams have nothing to do with getting into college.
