She came... An old vase while looking for sth else in the attic. Is it correct to say 'came up to'?

She came ... an old vase while looking for [STRIKE]sth[/STRIKE] something else in the attic.

Is it correct to say 'came up to'?

No. You only need one word between "came" and "an" in your example. It's a phrasal verb "to come xxxxx", meaning "to find/to discover".

Come across?

Less common, but equally correct, is 'to come upon'.
