Hello teachers. I've been taught that when a word ends with /tʃ/, like in watch (/wɒtʃ/), if we add the suffix -ed to the word, it is pronounced /t/.
So, why does the suffix -ed in wretched is pronounced /ɪd/: /ˈretʃɪd/?
