The first one means she takes him at his word.

Just this time. ;-)

oh~
that means the 2nd one...
the 2nd one means she takes him at his body (spirit), right?

Not exactly. To believe in God is to have faith that He exists. If you believe in God you have faith in the existence of God. You believe God is real. You have faith. You are a believer.

If some of his spokespeople are telling the truth, then yes. If they are lying, then he's in the clear. ;-)

Dostoevsky says in his famous book "crime and punishment" "if God doesn't exist then anything is permissible"
Do you agree this quotation?

Hi,

I have a question, is the sentence "I believe God" often used by Americans or English people?

I reckon the second is more used but I am not English.;-)

Thanks in advance for you reply.

umm I think the 2nd one is correct

Although I've chosen the right answer, I'm still confused about it.. :-?

Absolutely the second choice is the correct one. it means she has faith in God's existence and copmpetence.

The first is more nonsensical than the second
'She believes God' may be not sufficient and need to be complemented such as 'She believes (that) God must be a handsome man'
And the second has no need to be complemented. Its meaning is too easy-to-understand.
Thanks!

To believe in God is to have faith that He exists. If you believe in God is that you have faith in the existence of God. You believe God is real. You have faith. You are a believer.

The most important thing is that there is only one God who created us so we should believe him and his singleness not to make a partner with him.

In your opinion... ;-)

To answer the question they are both correct but have different meanings.

She believes God = She believes what god is saying/doing. She trusts and accepts what is being said/done by God.

She believes in God = She believes that God is real and not made up.

Take “God" out and replace with a more common name

She believes Fred = She believes him to be truthful etc.
[FONT=&quot]She believes in Fred = She has faith in him etc.

I just had another thought. If instead of replacing god with another being as I did in my last example (She believes Fred), we replace God with a theory (She believes in evolution) then the second one would be correct.

In summery, if the original poster believes in God as a being then both are correct, if the original poster believes that God is only a theory then only the second one is correct.

I think the first one means that we believe in what god says, not in the existence of God.

so I've voted the second one.

Another example of this is written on the US bills!:-D

Belive in is correct
