Hello everybody!

Today I made up this sentence "a tank was borrowed for the Owner to pour some oil into" in order to express this meaning "a tank was borrowed in order that the Owner could pour oil into it". By it, I mean the tank, of course.

Do you agree with me?

Thank you.

Yes, that part is clear.

There's no reason to capitalise 'owner'.

There's no reason to capitalise 'owner'.

I am thinking that "Owner" is capitalized because it is referring to a specific party in a contract, or something similar.

Otherwise, the text doesn't make a lot of sense if the "Qwner" is the owner of the tank.

But the OP made up the sentence.

Who is the owner, JACEK? What did he own?

I find the entire sentence horribly awkward. Who borrowed it? Are you deliberately trying to avoid saying that?

Is "pouring the oil into it" the real point? Was it to store the oil? Transport the oil? Deal with an overflow issue?

No one says "I feel that I must pour some oil into a tank today. Find me a tank so I can do that!" but this sentence sounds like the entire point was the pouring. I'm sure that isn't so.

The Owner of a ship.

Why do you think 'owner' should be capitalised?

I don't know it, either. It was just this sentence. I work for the company that repairs and rebuilds ships. Their owners may have various wishes.
I was wrong to capitalise the owner.
Besides, we deal with German speaking people who do capitalise nouns and have their ships repaired at our company.

It just doesn't make sense.

It just doesn't make sense.

The "owner" is not the owner of the oil tank. Think of "the Owner" here as "the Company" or something like that. This entity borrowed a tank so they could store some oil.

I understand there are different owners.

Say it was needed to store the oil. Not that is was needed so someone could realize their goal of pouring oil.

It does seem to me that it would make more sense to buy the tank if they want to store something in it, but I could be missing something.

:)
