Is there an idiom/expression for when you try to forget your troubles?

I want to use it instead of the underlined part.

With the sun on my skin, I lay on the sand and tried to forget all my troubles.

What are some other ways this idea can be expressed?

You could say:

With the sun on my skin, I lay on the sand and let everything go.

(Variations on "let everything go" include "let it all go" and "let go into the moment.")

Perhaps;

I put my worries behind me.

P.S. I don't like the use of "tried" there.

When speaking of someone other than yourself you might use "bury his/her head in the sand,"
