I was watching David Goggins Interview on Youtube, and I was not sure about the meaning of two sentences :
1. I'm talking about the people who are one job loss away from a breakdown.
2. One relationship breakup away from depression.

My questions:
1. What does away from mean? I looked it up in online dictionaries but failed to find the right explanation. Could you leave a link for detailed explanations?
2. What is breakdown? Does it mean that the people make a mistake and loss their jobs?
3. The sentence's structure: the people who are one job loss, looks strange to me. Could you explain it? people are one job loss?

"One job loss" is used as a measure of distance, figuratively speaking. They will have a breakdown if they lose another job.

One relationship breakup away from depression.
Similarly, if they suffer another break-up of a relationship, they will fall into depression.

"What is a breakdown?"

It's what happens after somebody loses his/her job.

It's an interview with David Goggins. The title (which appears under the video box) appears to be "Mentally Fragile to Mentally Strong".

Both sentences describe how close people are to a mental breakdown. "Close" is not in terms of physical distance but being in a situation waiting for an event to happen. Losing a job and the breakup of a relationship are the events or tipping points towards a breakdown.

#2 is not a sentence - it has no verb.

It's not "away from." It's one job loss away. From a breakdown.

"One away" is how close they are to the thing.
