4:41. When the guy says that he catches up, does he mean that he loses more of his social life than just drinking and partying?

No. He means that his social life revolves less around drinking and partying, and more around simply catching up with his friends. That's things like, for example, just meeting for a coffee and a chat or going out for a meal. The emphasis is on simply spending quality time with his friends, rather than being about what they're doing together.

'Catching up' is maintaining a relationship with somebody. If you haven't seen a friend for a while, you want to keep informed of what's going on in their life.
