Contracted forms and IELTS

Could you tell me whether contracted forms like "let's", "I'm" are suitable for academic writing when taking IELTS exam?

This is from the book "IELTS Advantage writing skills" by Richard Brown.

I would use "let us" and "I am". You may need to use the latter, but the chances of needing to use the former are slim.

The use of let's is justifiable here. As long as the register of language used is appropriate to the task at hand, then contractions may be used effectively.

I would use "let us" and "I am". You may need to use the latter, but the chances of needing to use the former are slim.

I'd say it's the other way round.

I'd say it's the other way round.
I am of the opinion that a candidate in IELTS may be required to outline a personal view, but let's agree to disagree.
