Today, I saw pictures of school lunch from different countries. Those meals had a rich combination of meat, rice, bread, vegetables, fruit, dessert or milk. I don't know if they're delicious but at least they looked good and nutritious. I'm jealous of the students who can eat them. During primary school, I didn't have a good eating habit; I usually skipped breakfast or lunch. However, as I grew old, breakfast has been important to me. I find I'm more energetic and think faster while learning.

Which is better - grew older or got older?

In BrE, "got older".

I think "grew older" works better when we are talking about young people (as in the context) who were in the process of growing up. "Got older" is more suitable in describing people who were old and were becoming older.

I agree with emsr2d2 that 'got older' is more natural in the sentence under discussion.

In BrE, "got older".
In American English, too. Regardless of the context, we're more likely to use got than grew.

Grew isn't wrong or bad, however.
