This comes from an exercise I found online. Sentences 7, 14, and 15 don't sound right to me.

7. Do you usually drink very much coffee in the morning?

14. I had a great time at the beach, but now I have much sand in my shoes.

15. Did you find out very much information about the college?
I can't really put my finger on it, but they feel very awkward.

Could you confirm whether they're incorrect, and if they are, help me tell why they are?

In the first and second, I'd use a lot of- we don't use much in the positive sense very often. In the last, I wouldn't bother with information.

You're right—those sentences are awful. So are a few others. They're all grammatical, but many are unnatural, to varying degrees.

It isn't a very well written test.

I would tend to go with "a lot of" in all three, but I could go with "much" in 7. and 15. but not in 14.
