Hi.

Let's say there are some pandas in a nearby city of mine and I want to ask a friend if she wants to see pandas, is it natural to say "Do you want to see pandas in Chengdu?". Chengdu is a nearby city of Chongqing.

I'd say the pandas, as they are specific pandas - the ones in the zoo - and not pandas in general walking the streets of the city.

Chengdu is a nearby city of Chongqing.

I don't think the sentence is natural.
I would say: Chengdu is a city near Chongqing.

Ron: Do you want to see the pandas?
Don: What do the pandas do?
Ron: Eat, sleep, snd not mate.
Don: I'll pass.

:)
