===========================================================
Do you usually say " I finished my high school" or "I graduated from high school"?[/FONT]

I finished high school or I graduated from high school.

Yes. In AmE, if you say you "left school", it would mean you quit or dropped out of school.

By the way, it's "I am a student", not "I am student". However, if you have graduated and are not currently enrolled in a school, then you are not a student. So unless there is further context clarifying the situation, it makes no sense to say "I am a student. I graduated from high school two years ago."

Brits would understand 'student' to mean university student.

If I heard "I am a student. I graduated from high school two years ago," I would think "Oh, you must be a college student."

Brits would understand 'student' to mean university student.

This BrE speaker wouldn't. I was a student from the age of 5 to the age of 18. "Student" refers to anyone attending school, college or university, or studying privately.

Not many of us speakers of BrE refer to ourselves as 'Brits'.

Don't we? :)

Admittedly, when referring to my nationality, I would say "I'm British" but I regularly refer to large groups of people from the UK as "Brits".

There are far too many Brits living in the south of Spain.
I'm embarrassed when I see the antics of Brits abroad.
