Hello.
Should I add 'for' at the end of my question or is it wrong?
'She studied for three hours. How long did she study for?'
 
No, it's not wrong. You can use it at the end of that question. In fact, I would prefer it.
 
It's not necessary, and I wouldn't use it, but it's grammatical and natural.
 
Even though the "never end a sentence with a preposition rule" has apparently become obsolete, and as an "old school practitioner" I would not use it. But if you must you could say,
"For how long did she study?".

It's not wrong in similar sentences, is it? For example: 'How long were you on holiday for?'
 
Regardless of its placement, in that example and with the use of "how long", "for" is unnecessary.

As is "the". That is, You don't need an article when talking about things in general or is abstract.
