here is some sentence,I have no idea if these are right.

Da Shan’s Chinese speaking always makes me who come from south of China feel slightly embarrassed. Since I also have been lived in Beijing for years, but his Mandarin speaking is much better than mine.

Thanks a lot!

Here [STRIKE]is[/STRIKE] are some sentences but I have no idea if [STRIKE]these[/STRIKE] they are right.

Da Shan’s Chinese [STRIKE]speaking[/STRIKE] always makes me [STRIKE]who[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]come[/STRIKE] (from the south of China) feel slightly embarrassed. [STRIKE]Since[/STRIKE] I [STRIKE]also[/STRIKE] have been [STRIKE]lived[/STRIKE] living in Beijing for years (no comma here) but his Mandarin [STRIKE]speaking[/STRIKE] is much better than mine.

Thanks a lot!

See above.

Dear Emsr:

"I have been living in Beijing for years but his Mandarin is much better than mine."

You wrote "no comma" after the word "years."

If I put a comma after "years," would I be marked down on a test?

Thank you

... his Mandarin is much better than mine.
I think it is also correct to say 'he speaks Mandarin much better than I', but I am not a teacher.

The comma before "but" is required since it precedes an independent clause( "his Mandarin is much better than mine").
I always put a comma before 'but I am not a teacher', an independent clause.

Da Shan’s Chinese [STRIKE]speaking[/STRIKE] always makes me [STRIKE]who come[/STRIKE] (from the south of China) feel slightly embarrassed.
I would add 'spoken' before 'Chinese' because the OP refers to 'speaking', but I am not a teacher.

Rover, your answer is confusing. The question was "if I put a comma"; your answer seems to respond to "if I didn't put a comma".

You're right. I misread it.

Hwdzyyy, your title was not helpful. Please use words from your actual question.

I prefer comma after "but".

But I'm not a teacher.
