(find the mistake)

He has been training really hard since the last Olympic games.

Is that answer correct?

He has been training really hard for the last Olympic games.

No. That doesn't make any sense. If the last Olympics have already happened, he's left it too late to train for them.

There is a different error in that sentence.

I think we should use (had) not (has ).

No, "had been" doesn't work with "since". It would work with "for" but that would mean making two changes to the sentence and it appears that there is only supposed to be one error. Don't look for anything complicated. The error I can see has nothing to do with grammar.

Edit: I want to clarify something in case I've been misleading you. Am I right that you were asked to find the mistake in the sentence "He has been training really hard since the last Olympic games"? And your answer was "The word since is the mistake. It should be for"?

Yes,you are right.The only possibility I have is that we should use for in front of the last.
As I can't see anything else wrong. But you said the mistake isn't related to the grammar, so where is it if there was a mistake?

Here's another clue: you only need to change one letter.

Do you mean Olympic Games not games ?
[h=2][/h][h=2][/h]

YES!

Here is the problem when someone tells you that there is a mistake,but the fact is that there isn't a mistake.

Here is the problem when someone tells you that there is a mistake (no comma here) but the fact is that there isn't a mistake.

There was a mistake! Failing to capitalise "Games" in "Olympic Games" is a mistake!
