Hello again,

In Turkish and Azerbaijani language we have a very funny idiom. It's a little bad but funny.

It's: "His fart has the sound of a cannon" :)
In our culture it means that he is a very powerful person, has much money, is wealthy and has some friends in the authority of the government.

Do you have such a funny idiom in English?

Thank you

What's your opinion about "He is a big gun" and "his fart smells like perfume."
Are they used among you native English speakers? Are they common?

"Big gun" is used. It means an important and powerful person. I've not run across the other phrase.

"His fart smells like perfume" is not commonly used in AmE. However, when spoken in context, it would be understood by most native speakers: "The powerful man has so many admirers who believe he can do no wrong; even his farts smell like perfume!"

A little aside for members who might get the wrong idea. It is not generally a sound idea to talk of farts in polite circles.

... and, before anybody else thinks of it, it is definitely a bad idea to produce them.
