Which one is correct and why?

I corrected the first. The second is fine.

The first means you're showing the method. The second identifies which process to use.

Does that help? What does your dictionary say about "how" and "that"?

As a matter of fact, I knew that the first one might be incorrect , but my question is : Why can't "how" follow "the process"?
