"I am proud of me." or "I am proud of myself."

s1. I love me.

s2. I love myself.

I think s1 is grammatically incorrect. In the same way, I think "I am very proud of me." is incorrect.

But when I was watching TV drama "The Big Bang Theory", I heard Sheldon, the lead role of the drama, talked like that.

I think "I am very proud of myself." should be right.

Is "I am very proud of me." grammatically right?

Then, is "I love me." also right?

So, Sheldon made a mistake by saying "I am proud of me."

I was a little confused since it is so uncommon for Sheldon to make a grammatic mistake when he talks.

Don't rely on TV shows, films and music lyrics for completely grammatical English. "Sheldon" didn't make a mistake. Jim Parsons was following a script. If the scriptwriters felt the need to write "I am very proud of me", there was probably a reason for it. Perhaps it was an amusing response to someone else saying "I'm very proud of you, Sheldon".

Also, remember that TV scripts are not the same as essays submitted in an English exam- they will reflect the way we speak and speech can be messy, complete with repetition, words missing, grammar errors, etc.
