Hello everybody,

In a coursebook I have found the following piece of advice:
"In Russia, you must match your hosts drink for drink or they will think you are unfriendly." (it is a coursebook for adults learning English)

"match your hosts drink for drink"? What does it mean?

Thank you for help in advance!

It means that every time your hosts have a drink (usually alcoholic), you must have an identical drink.

It's a surefire way to a crippling hangover the next day. ;-)
