I was chatting with an American friend. I mentioned Donald Trump and I said "I hope that he will feel better soon".

I wonder if my italic sentence is natural.
 
We use contractions a lot and omit relative pronouns whenever appropriate.

In addition to Rover's and Piscean's comments, the "that" in post #1 is a conjunction.
 
You'll also hear "I hope [that] he's feeling better soon".
 
He should have checked out of the hospital by now, so he is, apparently, doing quite well.
