1. I have some plants. I hope they grow well.
2. I have some plants. I hope they will grow well.

Why is 1. correct?
When should I add “will” in “I hope” sentences?
 
Don't use 'will' in 'I hope' sentences. You just need the present simple.
 
The two examples that use any form of the future voice in that link can be expressed (more naturally for most native speakers) as:

I hope [that] she wins.
We have to hope and pray [that] the operation goes well.

And:
