[Grammar] I scored 90 marks IN/ON the test.

Which of the following is correct and if both are correct ,do they have same meaning?

1:- I scored 90 marks IN the test.
2:-
I scored 90 marks ON the test.

They mean the same.

Here in the United States, it seems that most people prefer the preposition "on":

"I'm so happy. I got an A on my exam."

"The mark / grade on my exam was a B."


In the United States, the traditional marks (grades) are:

A outstanding
B very good
C average
D passing
Fail no credit
