Thank you, but I think you need to specify that you were talking about the Opening Ceremony. The Olympics 2012 have not finished yet - they have barely started! ;-)

Note the correct spelling of Olympic.

There were Olympic scandals before it started! For the British, the main scandal is just how much of the taxpayers' money is being spent on it.

You're right though - on Wednesday night, some idiot put the South Korean flag on screen when the North Korean ladies' football team came out. It nearly caused a diplomatic incident! Still, it could have been worse - they could have done it at a sport that people actually watch!

I am grateful to this thread for informing me that the Olympics had started, though a little disappointed also - I thought after reading the first post that I had completely missed them. Alas, I was mistaken.

I'm going to make it even worse! According to some idiot on the Organizing Committee I've been living for the past 21 years not in Kyiv,Ukraine but the Ukraine region (RUS). Lutsk, a Ukrainian city, has become Lutsk(RUS) as well as Lviv is from now on the Lvov region(RUS). A Gerorgian born Russian athlete was not born in Southern Osetia (Georgia) but Southern Osetia(RUS)!!!! These are intolerable mistakes! I guess you guys would not want to learn from the Olympic Games in the future that England is not part of the United Kingdom but the fifty-...whatever state in the US.;-)

I imagine fewer mistakes occurred in 1896 in Athens when only 15 (approximately) countries were represented. Mind you, there were far fewer individual countries in the world at that time too!

As far as I'm aware, each error was corrected after it was identified. No doubt there will be more cock-ups as the Games go on! Human error and all that.
