Is it correct to say: "I often went swimming in the previous summers. I have not gone swimming this summer."?

No. "I often went swimming in the summer. I have not gone swimming this summer."

It did not sound correct to me as well, that's why I asked. :)
I know that it can be said in that way, but how can I emphasize that, for instance, I was doing that only for 2 previous summers?

"I went swimming often in the past two summers, but I have not gone swimming this summer."

Would it be correct: 'in the previous two summers'? (previous instead of past)

Okay, thank you : )

You don't have to post a separate message to say thank you. Just click on the thank you button in the lower left side.
