Hello, everyone. I need a verb. Are the bold verbs idiomatic in my sentences?

Economic growth increases global warming.
Economic growth contributes to global warming.

Those are both grammatically correct sentences.

Thanks, emsr2d2.
What if I use 'climate change'? What verbs collocate with it?

Economic growth _____ global warming.

You didn't use "climate change" in post #3. You wrote the same sentence as in post #1.

Sorry, my bad!

Economic growth ___?__ climate change.

This is not a question of being idiomatic, nor a question of collocation. The question here is logic (which is a kind of meaning), and finding the right word to express the logical relation between the two noun phrases.

Economic growth __________ climate change.

Think carefully about how these two things are related. Select a verb based on this relation.

Thanks, jutfrank.

I translated it to Chinese. In Chinese we would say economic growth accelerates climate change. Is this correct in English?
