I wish to find an answer to my question.

Why was number eleven called eleven for what was not ten one like twenty two?

This might explain it. 'Eleven' and 'twelve' are derived differently, then 13-19 follow the rules (thirteen = three + ten, etc.)

I would hyphenate 22: twenty-two.
