I consider 'tired' an adjective above.

It is an adjective.

I am tired = Subject, simple present verb form, adjective.
I was tired = Subject, simple past verb form, adjective.
I have been tired = Subject, present perfect verb form, adjective.
I had been tired = Subject, past perfect verb form, adjective.

I consider 'tired' a verb in 'I have tired', but I don't know whether it is common.

As a standalone sentence, it could be used but has a totally different meaning. I really don't think it's time to confuse the OP further with that.
