Dear all,

Let me call you ‘sweetheart’. I’m in love with you. Let me hear you whisper that you love me, too. Keep the love light burning in your eyes so true. Let me call you ‘sweetheart’. I’m in love with you.

What is the meaning of "So true" here in those lyrics? It refers to what?

Shall it be rephrased as "keep the love light burning so true in your eyes"? but again it's not very clear!

Thanks.

Wow! This takes me back!

It can be thought of as "keep the true love light burning in your eyes".

There are other versions of this line. The one I have known for 65 years is 'Keep the love light burning in your eyes of blue', which is easier to understand.

Apparently the original lyric from 1910 is 'Keep the love light glowing in your eyes so true'.
