Sirs, if you could kindly tell which of the following sentences is correct and why?

1-He can do this job as well as anyone else.

2-He can do this job as well as anyone else can.

They are both fine.

[STRIKE]Sirs,[/STRIKE] (the forum has very capable female teachers)

Please tell me which of the following sentences is correct and why.

Rover

I found the definition of ''as well as'' in this forum.

1.As well as primarily means and not only.

The students as well as their teacher are having a meeting in the school gym this afternoon.( meaning it's not only students that will have the meeting but also their teacher).

2.It can also mean and in addition but generally as well as is considered a lot weaker than the conjunction and.

He is handsome, well built as well as smart and funny. ( in addition to being handsome, he is also smart and funny).

But in Aachue examples ''as well as'' meains ''like''.
He can do this job as well as/ like anyone else.

I'm little confused. It means, we can use ''as well as'' similar to ''like''. Am I right?

You are right but I meant to use it in the sense of 'as good as'.

Both sentences work, although 1. seems to work better!

No. 'As well as' does not mean 'like'.
