Agreed, but I disagree with the earlier answers that said "No". I think "also" can be added to both, and I actually think it improves number 2 slightly.

I think both #1 and #2 are completely fine. 'Also' may not be strictly needed, but I wouldn't say it's wrong to include it.

Edit: Actually, #2 I think I would remove the first instance of the word 'in', regardless of the 'also' question.
