Mixing tenses

I am learning a lot from the forum. One of my difficulties that I face in writing is mixing tenses. Below is a piece which I have written to improve on my writing skills. Please read through and let me know, what you think?


The contractors where at the concierge but I advised them to park down the rampt. So you are with them in your flat, I wonder where they had gone as the keys are in my hand and I wanted to give it to them. I will tell my colleagues that the contractors are with you, as they were looking for them.

It should have been "The contractors were".
