Modern astronomers are much better equipped. But some of the questions that they ask themselves (not change), like, for example, whether there has ever been life on Mars.

The answer is "haven't changed", but I think "don't change" is also correct. Am I right?

Both haven't changed and don't change are fine.
 
I prefer "haven't changed" in that sentence.
 
Yes, the statement refers to questions that have been around in the past and continue to the present. The questions did not arise in the present. They have been there.
