Welcome to the forums.

Can you identify the root word in each of those three?

(We can't help with homework, but we can try to help you see where to look.)

A dictionary might help you.

In the word "shacks", the added morpheme is "-s" and it changes 'shack' from singular to plural.

What about "hitched"? What about "informal" and "mighty"? What are the added morphemes and how do they change [strike]made to[/strike] the meaning or grammatical function? Please help.

While you are thinking about this problem, please look at the changes I have made to your post in red. It is important to follow the rules of written English, especially because it makes posts much easier to read.

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- End every sentence with a single, appropriate punctuation mark.
- Always capitalise the word "I".
- Capitalise proper nouns.
- Do not put a space before a full stop, comma, question mark or exclamation mark.
- Always put a space after a full stop, comma, question mark or exclamation mark.

Try to make the words you are querying stand out from the other words in the sentence, either by using quotation marks "like this" or by putting them in italics like this.

So - have you worked out the root of the words "hitched", "informal" and "mighty" yet?
