Does "got hold of" mean "bite" or grab"? The transation goes "My dog bit this", so I'm confused.
ex)The other day my dog chewed one of my new running shoes. Hoping to save my investment, I took it to a shoe-repair shop, "My dog got hold of this," I told the repairman, "What do you recommend?" Immediately he replied, "Give your dog the other shoe."
